Data Recovery

Data recovery for readable and partially readable media

SQIP helps recover data from readable or partially readable computers, external drives, USB devices, memory cards, and other media when clean-room mechanical repair is not required.

Clients outside Northern Colorado can ship drives by arrangement after intake. Law enforcement and private investigation matters use a separate case-handling workflow with authorization, documentation, and chain-of-custody requirements set before work begins.

Residential and small-business recovery

Recovery for devices that can still be read or imaged

This service covers family files, business documents, photos, project files, external drives, USB devices, memory cards, and other media that do not require internal mechanical drive repair.

Home recovery

Help recovering important files from computers, external drives, USB devices, memory cards, and partially working storage.

Backup planning

After recovery, SQIP can copy recovered data to a safer location and help plan backups.

Shipped-in recovery

Mail-in drives after intake

SQIP can accept shipped media after intake confirms the device type, symptoms, recovery goals, return-shipping plan, and whether the matter is residential recovery, business recovery, or evidence case handling.

Shipping intake

  • Contact SQIP before shipping any device or media
  • Use protective packaging and a tracked carrier
  • Include only the media needed for the scoped recovery request
  • Confirm return-shipping expectations before work begins

Travel and on-site work

On-site pickup, travel, field collection, or in-person work can be scoped separately as consulting when appropriate. Travel is not assumed as part of standard data recovery pricing and should be discussed before scheduling.

Important limits

Clean-room mechanical repair is not offered.

Data recovery is not guaranteed. SQIP does not open sealed drives, perform clean-room work, or repair damaged drive internals. If a drive is clicking, grinding, not spinning, water damaged, fire damaged, or otherwise mechanically damaged, continued use may reduce the chance of recovery and a clean-room provider may be the right next step.

Recovery risks

Storage devices can worsen during diagnosis or copying. SQIP is not responsible for pre-existing device damage, unrecoverable files, failed media, lost business income, shipping damage, or indirect losses.

Client approval

Destructive steps, reformatting, replacement media purchases, expanded scope, or on-site consulting are only handled with client approval. This service information is not legal advice.
